Eclipse training

So the course I attended was fairly informal put on by a friend of a friend. Basically it was three of us (including the instructor) sitting around my friend’s office with laptops. The topics covered included:

Eclipse 3.0 and 3.2 - what, installation options, configuration, plugins, JDKs
Java programming in and out of Eclipse
JSP programming in Eclipse
Configuration and deployment of Java apps
Database connectivity
Java Servlets and “thick” apps
Web services
Google Web Toolkit
MyEclipseIDE workbench

…and demos for most of the above. We were there for almost 12 hours (including breaks) working with this. We covered the big picture and got down to the gritty details of classpaths and JAR/WAR/XML files. It was very good and comprehensive. The instructor was excellent, and I have never met anyone who knows as much and has worked as much (basically the last 10 years) with Java.

It was well worth it. I can see having a second class when I am further along with Eclipse and Java.
